What most of you miss when traveling in Japan is “KAMADO GOHAN.” It means rice cooked by KAMADO, a traditional Japanese cook stove. Nowadays, it is very difficult to find a house with Kamado because everybody uses electric rice cooker for efficiency and convenience.
In Takayama area, the only place you can see Kamado is Takayama Jinya (http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5902.html), a historical government office which is now a museum. In traditional lunch experience, you will be able to use Kamado and taste very fresh rice out of it.
Over a year, we have been offering this activity in order to make use of the historical place and found out all Japanese people loved our rice very much.
Then we have started to think that we should provide this authentic experience with travellers from abroad. If you are interested in real culture & life style of Japanese countryside, we believe this is what you need.
